It's official. Vivian Paige RoBards is a big kid now. Today was her much anticipated first day of kindergarten at Our Lady of Lourdes. Overall, I'd say the day was a success. She awoke with ease, got herself dressed, drank a little hot chocolate, and off she went! The kids take their own snack to school each day--today, Vivian chose mango. She was the only one in class that brought a mango for snack. :) At pick up time, she reluctantly filled me in on some details of the day and said she's definitely going back. Today, there were no tears and there was no prying of tiny fingers off of mommy---milestones people! Vivian proudly displayed her work from the day and also added she was disappointed they did not get any homework today. Here's to hoping the rest of the year goes as well as the first day!

Miss Roxanne Cynthia has already graced us with her presence for five months. That's nearly half a year--WOW! Each day I spend with her, each time I catch a glance at her staring back at me, each time I feed her, each time I watch my "big" kids enjoying the fact that she's around, I am filled with happiness. It probably goes without saying, but I am SO, SO, SO thankful I have Roxie in my life!
At five months, Roxie has two teeth (and she uses them too--OUCH!!), she still gets up several times a night for a snack, she is showing her strength pulling herself forward and holding her body upright in a sitting position when assisted, she laughs, she coos, she smiles for the camera a lot, and she is pretty much friendly with anyone who wants to give her the time of day. This little girl has fattened her little body up strictly on mama's milk. I will have her for as long as she'll take it! The pediatrican recommended not introducing solids any time soon since her reflux continues to be a problem for her. Fine by me. Most people seem to think Roxie looks just like Vivian. I say she definitely fits in with my crowd of children.
Curious to see what she looks like at five months?! Take a peak below...

Paige and Andrew got to return home today. I'm sure today felt a little different as they walked out of the house as two and came back home as three. Really, it's pretty darn amazing -- new life is always simply incredible. We invaded the Reh house for a bit this evening to bring some grub, sneak another peak at their super cute baby, and pass out a few hugs along the way. I am so very proud of Paige and Andrew -- day four of parenting and they are well into proving themselves as naturals. Love you all!

My little sister, Paige, had her first baby this morning. We are all so happy for Paige and Andrew. Mike and I feel especially privileged to officially be Aunt Leigh and Uncle Mike! Everyone is doing well--way to go Paigey and AJ!

On the way home from Pawleys Island, SC we have been dropping in on our friends, Kristen and Scott, ever since they moved to Durham, NC in 2006. We get to visit throughout the year, but this stop is always a fun one and much anticipated by the kiddos. Vivian has assumed the name Duncan in many instances and Carter is one of her best buddies despite the long distance between them. Our group of six kids (soon to be seven in October) have grown up together...known each other their whole lives! And, they really do get along famously. It's not every day you can stick six kids together and have them play well ALL morning, day, and night long. You could probably say the same thing for us grown ups too--We love you Kristen and Scott and always enjoy our time together!

As the week continues, there's more of the same--beach, sun, fun, and family.

Mike's brother, Uncle John, picked a most memorable activity for the kids to participate in the past two days...crabbing at Pawleys Island. The dock was just a short walk from our house, the crabs were eager to take a piece of our bait, and the kids were super thrilled to catch so many little critters in such a short time span--the perfect activity for four kiddos five and under.

We made it after a long, long drive on Saturday--departure time = 5:20 a.m., arrival time = 7:00 p.m. We made it 0.2 miles from our house before stopping the car (for a pacifier reset), and then drove the rest of the way with little trouble from the kids...just bathroom breaks and food stops. Overall, probably not too bad on the timing considering we had a van full of excited kids (5, 3, 2, and 4 1/2 months) with little concept of just how far away the beach actually is. Here's the first couple of days in pictures:
